It’s unfortunate to say, but our home delivery and spring offerings will be at best delayed due to these cold temperatures. Yes, we have kale (that’s for sure) but doing door to door delivery with just some kale, and other sparse items is not practical. And so we wait!
Another foreseeable problem there is very soon we will be getting VERY busy in the fields planting. Which will take top priority when pulled in many different directions. We tend to hunker down and make sure the crops get in, or it would be a sad, slow summer and fall harvest! So being very blunt – our door to door delivery at best is now delayed until mid to late May, and if our planting is somehow disrupted, home delivery may not even be possible at all. You have NO idea how SAD I am to say that out loud. Trust me – we are doing the very best we can. We hate to let anyone of you down!
In the meantime we are making plans with Mama Earth Organics to purchase our field of Kale. We know they are bombarded with customers as well, but if you get a chance to sign up with them, we highly recommend it. They have been supporting our farm for years now and they have the capabilities to reach thousands – where we can only do a couple hundred of you at best.
This is our reality. Mother nature and her weather always runs the show. We adapt and do the best we can with what we’ve got. We completely understand your frustration as we feel it like a pounding drum with the mass amounts of emails I’ve been getting. We know everyone is anxious for fresh greens, garden transplants, we hear ya! Please don’t email me unless it’s an absolute emergency – I will send newsletters and keep this blog updated as to when items become available.
I will keep our subscribers updated! I’m feeling a slight shift in the world. It may indeed be that by the time our spring harvests are ready we will have some farmers’ markets in place in Toronto for folks to attend where we can see you 2 meters away and get you your fresh veggies!
